What To Expect

The process for re-finishing your hardwood floors involve the following:

Hanging Plastic to protect areas where we will not be working in and covering such items (bookshelves) that you would not want dust in.  In situations where we are sanding a kitchen, I do cover your cabinets.

I like to do a color selection on your floor at this time.

Your floor will go through several stages in the sanding process.

A rough sanding to flatten, fine sanding, then the hand work, final preparation and buffing, at which time I thoroughly clean the surrounding area.

Color and/or finish will be applied.  There will be a period of one day for each coat of finish, at which time you will not be able to walk on your floor while the finish dries.  Each coat will give the floor more depth and body.  I normally apply 3 coats of polyurethane to the floor.  On the day of the final coat, or prior to, the shoemolding and transitions will be installed, if needed or required.

During the entire process, there will be a little dust, but rest assured that once the work is completed, I take every measure to leave you with nothing but a beautiful floor and a smile!

The entire process will be discussed prior to and during the job and will be completed to your satisfaction.
